STARLINK INSTALLATION DORSET

Dorset was one of the first places in the world to have access to the new Starlink broadband internet service. The service was then expanded to cover the whole of the Westcountry.

Starlink promises to transform the way rural areas connect to the internet with speeds of up to 350mbps download and 20mbps+ upload. Running a business from home or from any rural location will now be possible even in the most remote areas of Dorset, like Dorchester, Lyme Regis, Shaftsbury, Sherborne, Bridport, Poole, Bournemouth  and Weymouth.

Due to the low-latency of a Starlink connection it is suitable for video calling systems like Zoom and FaceTime. It also works with WhatsApp, mobile WiFi calling and Digital Voice/VoIP providers. We have now installed over 350 Starlink systems and have had 100% positive customer satisfaction with the broadband connection.

How our service works:

1. Placing the order – Due to current Starlink shipping delays our recommendation is that you place the order for your equipment from John Lewis. 2. Confirming your order  – Please let us know when you have successfully placed an order for our records so we can book in your installation – you can either give us a ring, e-mail info@dorsetbroadband.co.uk or use our new ‘Request an appointment’ button above.

3. Installing your hardware – Starlink requires a clear view of the Northern sky, but depending on the orientation and location of your property, we generally find that there is a suitable place to install the equipment. Our installation service invoices all the brackets, poles and other hardware you need.

The Starlink Version 2 ‘V2’ hardware does not have an ethernet port on the router and comes supplied with a WiFi only connection. You may require an ethernet port to connect your hardware to other networking equipment in your home or business. If this is the case, let us know and we able to supply this for you.

Depending on where your router is located, we may also need to help you install some additional networking equipment to get your internet connection to the right place. This depends on the size and construction of your property.

The Starlink monthly service charge is £62.50+VAT (£75.00) and you are not tied into a long-term contract like many of the traditional telecoms providers. Once your new service is up and running you can cancel the broadband element of any existing fixed line services or the entire phone line rental agreement.

Depending on where the dish needs to be mounted a longer cable may be required – the standard cable is 50ft – upgraded 75ft and 150ft cables are available. Subject to availability, we normally carry these on our vans.

Starlink Business is now available in the UK at a reduced price of £150.00+VAT (£180.00) per month. This offers a significant discount on the original price of the service and is much better value than leased lines and dedicated ethernet circuits. A major benefit of the Starlink system compared to leased lines is that you’re are not tied into a long term contract. Once your hardware is purchased it belongs to you and you can cancel the service at anytime. To keep your Starlink system running to the best of it’s ability we provide a yearly on-site service. To achieve maximum performance, your Starlink dish will need to be cleaned once a year to remove dirt and bird droppings. Our plan also includes first line telephone support and a 10% discount for on-site service calls and our other products and services – all for only £10.00+VAT (£12.00) per month.
